Unit 14 M1 - Explain the processes and technologies involved in producing a radio broadcast

Here you can see an image of a studio which has all the equipment needed for a studio, you can see many computer screens and monitors which is a very useful piece of equipment to have in a studio. You basically do everything on a computer such as editing, recording and much more. They have more equipment such as microphones, headphones, workstation, mixing desk, speakers. This is because these are all the main studios need in a workplace.

Digital cartwall - A pre-loaded software system, which contains all audio assets required from a playlist. Dj's will make a song until a timer and make the transitions from songs to speech to songs to make it smooth. The have a running order which they must stick with, and also live radio script detailing which they should have a brief description of the day before so that they will be organised. A digital cartwall is like another computer which gathers sounds and music. You can do anything on a digital cart wall such as adjust the volume. The sounds are recorded very privately so no other noise is heard of.

The playlist is guide to show what songs will a radio station play at a specific set time. This is so the DJ can see the different types of music played beforehand. When the DJ starts to make the playlist he sees which songs are most popular. The mainstream songs will be definitely listened to more by the audience, and as artists already gave permission for the radio station could use.

A digital layout system is a computer system which allows you to record, store and play all the audio content which will then be used for the radio station. It is used when going live or recorded shows, programmes, ad breaks etc. It allows them to communicate with the audience in this period of time. The presenters allow it to play at a set time and therefore be better for them as it will be much more organised.
